Status Note that Neoamphitrite may not be distinct from Amphitrite, in which case A. figulus would be the correct combination. Recent usages (eg Lavesque et al 2025) have preferred to use the A. figulus combination in Amphitrite as valid. However, Newfoundland area material (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon Archipelago) differ from smaller worms from French coasts across the Atlantic, and the specimens are genetically different but closely related .genetically. [details]
